Senior Test Engineer

Function

Our client is looking for an experienced testing professional to help ensure that software solutions perform reliably across both functional and technical perspectives. In this role, you will contribute to end-to-end quality assurance, support integration and acceptance activities, and work closely with analysts, developers, and engineers to strengthen testing practices and delivery quality.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the overall test strategy for the assigned solutions.
• Review business requests and analysis documents to identify testing needs and risks.
• Design, create, and execute test cases, scenarios, and test plans.
• Perform functional and non-functional testing, including end-to-end testing with external partners.
• Support acceptance testing and provide guidance to the teams involved.
• Track defects and issues, and prepare clear test reports.
• Automate test cases using the most appropriate tools for the technology in scope.
• Contribute to effort estimation, test planning, and the continuous improvement of testing processes and deliverables.

Technical Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in software testing, covering both manual and automated testing.
• Strong experience in manual testing, API testing, and test strategy definition.
• Solid understanding of testing methodologies and processes; ISTQB certification is considered an asset.
• Experience testing Java services, web services, REST APIs, proxy services, and open standards such as XML, XSD, and WSDL.
• Proven ability to analyze and model complex processes and workflows.
• Experience with Jira, Xray, ReadyAPI, and Playwright.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Experience with Groovy Script or a comparable scripting language.
• Nice to have: familiarity with public administration systems.

Profile

• Fluent in Dutch and English, or French and English, with at least basic knowledge of the second language if not fully fluent.
• Team-oriented and open to sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Detail-focused with strong analytical and communication skills.
• Results-driven, while consistently maintaining a strong focus on quality.

Practical Information

• The role is based in Brussels with a hybrid setup of 40% office presence and 60% homeworking.
• On-site presence of 2 days per week is mandatory.
• Language requirements: Dutch and English, or French and English.
