Senior VMware System Engineer

Function

We're looking for a skilled professional to join our client's team in the realm of operational technology. This role is critical in maintaining the daily functioning of our client's IT environment while also contributing to innovative IT initiatives. The ideal candidate will play an integral role in the design, installation, maintenance, and optimization of the ICT infrastructure by collaborating closely with experienced system engineers within the operations team.

Responsibilities and Role

As a key member of the operations team, you will be responsible for:

• Creating and implementing innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency.
• Providing expert support and guidance on VMware, Active Directory, Scada, BeyondTrust, Windows servers, and other ICT projects.
• Reporting directly to the operations manager and participating in on-call duties.
• Collaborating with other ICT team members to ensure coherent project outcomes and documentation.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should possess:

• At least 8 years of demonstrable experience as a VMware/Wintel System Engineer.
• Strong expertise in datacenter technology, including advanced knowledge of vCenter, Windows Server (2008x, 2012x, 2016, 2019, 2022), and Active Directory.
• Hands-on experience with BeyondTrust and backup solutions like Veeam, as well as monitoring concepts such as PRTG.
• Familiarity with SCADA environments and ability to manage VMware lifecycle.
• Proven communication skills, able to document processes and keep relevant stakeholders informed.
• A drive for proactivity, innovation, and a team-oriented mindset, including the ability to work independently.
• Required fluency in Dutch at a CEFR C2 level and proficiency in English.

Qualifications

In addition to the above, preferred qualifications include:

• A higher education background in technical or engineering fields or equivalent experience in relevant ICT technologies.
• Understanding of cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and familiarity with ITIL processes for incident management, change, demand, and capacity management.
• Experience in automation and scripting to enhance operational processes.
