Solution Architect Industry 4.0
Function
We’re looking for a Solution Architect – Sorting Systems to join our client’s architecture and engineering landscape. In this role, you’ll shape complex, mission-critical sorting platforms that operate in real time and at scale, combining industrial automation with modern IT and integration technologies. You’ll work close to operations while influencing long-term architectural direction in high-availability environments.
Role & Responsibilities
As a Solution Architect, you will take ownership of end-to-end solution design for large-scale sorting environments, from concept through operational handover. Your focus is on robustness, interoperability, and 24/7 continuity.
-
Design end-to-end architectures covering automation layers, PLC/ICS, SCADA, IT applications, and enterprise integration
-
Translate operational and business needs into scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures
-
Define and enforce architectural standards for OT–IT integration, data flows, protocols, and lifecycle management
-
Guide technical choices around real-time data acquisition, event processing, redundancy, and failover
-
Review vendor and internal designs to ensure safety, uptime, cyber-security, and performance requirements are met
-
Support commissioning, go-live, hyper-care, and continuous improvement of live operational systems
Technical Profile
You bring deep experience in operational technology and complex system integration, with a strong architectural mindset.
-
Extensive experience in solution architecture, industrial automation, OT/SCADA, or real-time operational environments
-
Hands-on knowledge of sorting systems, conveyors, robotics, PLCs, SCADA, MES, or similar automation platforms
-
Strong understanding of industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, or comparable standards
-
Experience integrating OT platforms with enterprise IT, APIs, data services, and event-driven architectures
-
Knowledge of OT cyber-security, segmented networks, access control, and monitoring
-
Familiarity with redundancy patterns, latency-critical systems, telemetry, OEE, and operational dashboards
-
Exposure to edge computing or containerized services is considered a plus
The Ideal Candidate & Languages
You are comfortable operating between strategy and hands-on delivery, and you thrive in operationally critical environments.
-
Able to bridge IT, OT, engineering, and operations through clear communication and pragmatic decision-making
-
Confident leading by influence and aligning diverse internal teams and external vendors
-
Analytical, resilient, and comfortable making architectural decisions with real operational impact
-
Experience in logistics, postal, manufacturing, warehousing, or other 24/7 industrial contexts is an advantage
-
Familiarity with Agile or scaled delivery environments is beneficial
-
