Function
We are looking for an experienced System Engineer consultant to join our client’s IT environment and ensure continuity of critical infrastructure services while supporting an ongoing modernization journey. The assignment combines operational support with infrastructure evolution, working across both daily IT operations and technical transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities – RUN / IT Operations
The consultant will be responsible for maintaining stability and availability of the IT landscape, providing hands-on technical support and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Key activities include:
- Level 1 and Level 2 support across infrastructure and workplace environments
- Incident diagnosis and resolution across network, server, and end-user systems
- Administration and support of core services including Active Directory, Azure AD / Entra ID, Windows Server environments
- Management of virtualization platforms (VMware / Hyper-V depending on context)
- Oversight of storage, backup solutions, and monitoring tools
- Network and infrastructure troubleshooting (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalling)
- Execution of patching, hardening, and security compliance activities
- User request handling and escalation management
Responsibilities – Projects & Infrastructure Modernization
Alongside operational tasks, the consultant will actively contribute to infrastructure transformation and standardization initiatives:
- Network redesign and optimization (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi)
- Upgrade and modernization of server and storage infrastructure
- Cloud-related improvements within Microsoft ecosystem (Microsoft 365, Azure services)
- Workplace modernization and endpoint lifecycle management improvements
- Packaging and deployment evolution using Microsoft Intune (policies, compliance, Autopilot)
- Automation and scripting using PowerShell and related tooling
- Contribution to target architecture definition and technical roadmap
- Creation and improvement of technical documentation and knowledge transfer
Profile – Skills & Experience
Our client is seeking a senior infrastructure consultant with strong technical depth and a structured, hands-on mindset. The ideal candidate brings:
- 5–10+ years of experience in System Engineering or Infrastructure roles
- Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
- Solid experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
- Hands-on knowledge of Intune (device management, policies, compliance)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware / ESXi)
- Networking knowledge: switching, routing, VLANs, Wi-Fi, firewall concepts
- Familiarity with backup solutions (e.g. Veeam) and monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix)
- Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell
- Experience with ITSM tools (e.g. Jira)
- Strong documentation and standardization mindset
- Ability to manage both operational support and project work simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams
Certifications considered an asset:
- Fortinet NSE 1–3
- Cisco CCENT (or equivalent networking knowledge)
- ITIL v4 Foundation
- Azure Fundamentals
Additional Information
- The role requires flexibility for occasional out-of-hours interventions (e.g. maintenance or urgent incidents)
- Working hours are standard office hours (approx. 08:00–17:00)
- Limited and occasional remote work possible
Languages required: English and French (professional proficiency). Dutch is considered an additional asset and may be required depending on stakeholder interaction.
Screening topics may include:
- L1/L2 support experience and approach
- Network troubleshooting methodology (e.g. inter-site connectivity issues)
- Authentication incident handling in AD / Entra environments
- Experience with disaster recovery planning (DRP) scenarios
