Technical Lead Linux Engineer

Function

Our client is seeking an experienced senior technical leader to strengthen the operational maturity of its Linux platform team. This role combines deep Linux expertise with strong leadership, structure, and a clear focus on reliability, accountability, and continuous improvement across the platform.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and day-to-day guidance to the Linux team.
• Define and promote best practices for Linux platform operations, maintenance, security, and lifecycle management.
• Support complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of critical incidents.
• Act as a senior escalation point for urgent Linux-related issues.
• Organize and improve operational ways of working across incident, problem, change, and capacity management.
• Drive operational reporting, key metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to stronger service reliability, availability, and overall operational efficiency.
• Support the creation and upkeep of runbooks, operational documentation, and knowledge management practices.
• Coach and mentor Linux engineers on technical standards and operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with management and stakeholders as a trusted advisor.
• Work effectively across infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and reduce operational toil.
• Promote proactive monitoring, observability, and preventive maintenance.

Technical Skills

• Strong senior-level Linux expertise in operational environments.
• Proven experience with troubleshooting, incident handling, and root cause analysis.
• Solid understanding of Linux platform operations, maintenance, security, and lifecycle management.
• Experience improving operational processes and standardizing team practices.
• Knowledge of service reliability, availability, monitoring, and observability.
• Experience with automation of operational tasks is a strong advantage.
