Technical Vendor Manager

Function

Our client is seeking an experienced IT vendor governance professional to assess the technical and operational readiness of external technology providers. This role sits outside Procurement and focuses on ensuring vendors align with enterprise standards, risk expectations, and business objectives through structured evaluation, ongoing oversight, and clear stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structured technical assessments of both prospective and existing IT vendors against defined readiness and maturity criteria.
• Evaluate vendor performance, identify gaps, and support continuous improvement through follow-up actions and review cycles.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders across IT, risk, and business functions to gather requirements and validate vendor capability.
• Monitor vendor value over time through performance reviews, audits, and improvement planning.
• Present assessment outcomes and recommendations to senior stakeholders to support vendor selection, renewal, and exit decisions.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry developments that may affect vendor capability and readiness.

Technical Skills

• Vendor maturity assessment and technical vendor assurance.
• Enterprise vendor governance and supplier management.
• Risk management related to vendor engagement and third-party technology solutions.
• Audit and quality assurance of vendor performance and compliance.
• Technical input to sourcing decisions based on readiness and capability.
• Use of digital tools to track performance metrics and manage vendor relationships.
• Information assurance assessment of vendor systems against security and control requirements.

Profile

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical judgment with confident stakeholder management and a proactive approach to vendor improvement. You are comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a complex vendor landscape and can influence outcomes through clear communication and sound technical assessment.

• Proven expertise in vendor maturity assessments, technical vendor assurance, and enterprise vendor governance.
• Strong experience in vendor evaluation and assessment is essential.
• Ability to assess multiple technical options and associated risks when reviewing vendor capabilities.
• Comfortable navigating complex vendor ecosystems and adapting to changing technical requirements and corporate policies.
• Strong collaboration, communication, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Continuous improvement mindset with an interest in best practices and emerging technologies.

Practical Information

This is a long-term consulting opportunity within the IT / Technology function.

• Working arrangement: 3 days per week on site; this may be subject to change.
• Language requirements: fluent Dutch and fluent English.
